Wouldn't it be great to be able to do a droid like IG-88 or something without it looking awful because the legs or whatever would be too big?

Yep, Threepio body with an new head that's do-able. There's also Grevious's Magna Guard. Droids aren't that hard, you've just got to pick the ones with the right shape to allow someone to wear it.
